We proudly present our new logo, which is congruent with the logo of the city of Oulu. In the future, you will find travel information about the city of Oulu under our Visit Oulu brand and information about our travel regions are under the Pohjola route brand.

Original Sokos Hotel Arina’s big renovations are soon to be ready
The year 2021 has been very active in Original Sokos Hotel Arina. Hotel building is going through enormous renovation and the renovation project is scheduled to be completed by March 2022.
When the renovation is ready, all the surfaces in the hotel have been completely renovated starting from rooms and carried out to the common areas of the hotel. The renovation will be carried out responsibly, with the idea of “saving the good”. Original Sokos Hotel Arina also holds the Green Key environmental certificate in their hotel.
New rooms also carry out the stories from Oulu. Strong elements of Oulu’s history include tar burning, the wild salmon, and the theme of thousands of stories and songs, the summer night. These themes are found in the new rooms.
Oulu Safaris is investing in Nallikari – Safarihouse, amusement park, and Winter Village in the same area in 2023
Oulu Safaris has started huge construction work in Nallikari. The new operating environment includes a safarihouse with a cafeteria, Winter Village, and Vauhtipuisto amusement park and it will be ready for guests in 2023. The new location can also utilize amusement park equipment in winter. For example, the reindeer carousel operates in a pavilion – so you can take a ride with a real reindeer or either with the reindeer carousel!
“We are building an entity where we can work effortlessly at one address year around. In 2023, we will have a safari house, where our guests are equipped for the arctic adventures right next to the frozen sea” says the owner Kalle Komulainen.
Winter Village challenges Finnish top chef’s to the arctic Sub Zero Barbeque
The Winter village is also a location for a new international barbeque competition, the Sub Zero BBQ World Championship on March 19th 2022. The competition will be held in Oulu now for the first time and the goal is to have an international competition by 2026, when Oulu will be the European Capital of Culture.
The Winter village opens for season 2022 on February 5th.
New hotel accommodation in Kalajoki – Hotel Rantakalla’s Sapphire apartments
One of the very first tourist services in Kalajoki resort – Hotel Rantakalla is investing in new hotel rooms. New Sapphire apartments will be ready for summer 2022 and investment includes 23 high-quality hotel apartments on five floors. Each apartment has an open living-kitchen area, bedroom, and bathroom with its own sauna and a magnificent view of the sand dunes and open sea. After an active outdoor day, you can relax on your balcony and admire the sunset. The location is very close to all the activities and services of Kalajoki resort.
