Lasaretti’s refurbished à la carte restaurant has been christened with a name that is written in the landscape: Virta, meaning ‘stream’. Virta offers a refreshing remedy: tasty local and organic food. You can also wet your whistle with something a little stronger than water. We must give a nod to the traditions of a few centuries ago, when the island was home to one of King Gustav III’s crown distilleries. The aquavit flowed, but the king’s monopoly could not quench the people’s thirst.
