You can splash about in Oulu’s Raatti and Raksila swimming pools all year round. Swimmers also have Vesi-Jatuli in Haukipudas, a pool in Muhos, and the Puikkari Recreational Swimming Baths in Pudasjärvi. In the summer, you can enjoy life on the beach and admire the nautical landscape. The Nallikari resort in Hietasaari, about four kilometres from downtown Oulu, is known for its sandy beaches. Walking through the idyllic island of Pikisaari will considerably shorten your journey. The Kalajoki sand dunes are another summer favourite.
During the winter, Oulu’s Tuira beach and its excellent facilities entice swimmers to harden themselves with some ice swimming. You can also go ice swimming at the Rantakylä recreational area in Liminka.
