Turkansaari Open-air Museum

–

Feel the breath of history in the yard, smoke hut and barn around the old Ylikärppä farmhouse, and on the Parttuainen forest estate. Over 40 buildings complete with artefacts will tell you about rural culture in Northern Ostrobothnia and the region’s typical livelihoods. The church and its 17th-century vicarage are the most architecturally important buildings on the island. One of the museum’s traditions is the lighting of a tar pit at Midsummer. The Turkansaari Open-air Museum is one of the Museum and Science Centre Luuppi sites.
