Raahe museum

–

A fine showcase of local culture

The oldest museum, Pakkahuoneen museo, is situated by the sea in the old part of Raahe. It offers a wide-ranging presentation of the era of sailing ships and the treasures they carried. The church of the museum features a magnificent collection of the church sculptures made by the artist Mikael Balt in the seventeenth century.

A stone’s throw from the town centre is the latest addition to Raahe’s family of museums, Kruununmakasiininmuseo. This former granary presents the phases of Raahe’s development from prehistoric times up until the present day. The pride of the Kruununmakasiininmuseo collection is the world’s oldest diving suit, Wanha Herra – the Old Gentleman of Raahe.
